Boston Running

Boston running over the past 30 days

I pulled this map off of Garmin Connect. It shows all of the running activity of runners with a Garmin watch over the past 30 days in the Boston area.

Like most activity maps, red highlights the greatest amount of activity. The orange and red trail on the south side of the Charles River is the Esplanade. This is a very popular route for Boston runners. Marathon Sports has a River Run Map that lists round trip distances and point-to-point distances around the river.

All around the river is a great place to run. With all of the bridges you can cross over and loop back at various points and run the distance you want. Or you can do a simple out and back. Both sides of the river have wide sidewalks or paths, and there are always runners out.

I’ve driven down Storrow Drive very late at night and very early in the morning and have seen runners. Boston is a great running town. There are many clubs in the area and most weekends there are several 5k, 10k or half-marathons to choose from.

I haven’t run on the Esplanade in a long time, and I’m looking forward to my first Esplanade run of the year.
