Thanksgiving Races 2023

Thanksgiving races are fun for the whole family.

Thanksgiving is when the kids come home from college or from out-of-state to be with the family for the holiday.

Thanksgiving races are a great time to go for a run with friends and family!

Turkeys are known for their great eyesight, and your little gobbler may be looking for a medal when they finish their race.

The My First 5K medal is a great first running medal that will delight your little, or not so little, gobbler after their first Turkey Day 5K.

Pre Thanksgiving Races

Newton Turkey Trot

18 November | 8:30 AM | Saturday

Zervas Elementary School, Waban, MA

The USATF Certified 5K run is a beautiful out and back course that leads you through Newton neighborhoods, onto the Commonwealth Avenue carriage lane to Newton City Hall and loops back to end at Zervas Elementary School. The roads will be monitored by Newton Police. ​​

​​​This year the Newton Turkey Trot will be raising money for the Newton Food Pantry, the Centre Street Food Pantry and Journey Forward, a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering lives of those with spinal cord injuries or disability.

2023 Registration is closed $32 for the 5K, $37 after October 23rd. The kid’s 1 mile fun run registration is $25 through October 23rd, then $30.

All runners registered by October 22nd are guaranteed a race shirt.

Parking is limited in the area, please consider walking, public transit or carpool.

10th Annual Westborough Turkey Trot

18 November | 9:00 AM | Saturday

Westborough High School, Westborough, MA.

All proceeds benefit Westborough Public Schools complementing programs and innovative initiatives.

2023 registration is closed $30 for the 5K and $5 for the Kid’s Fun Run 1 Miler.

The 5K is limited to 1,000 runners, so don’t delay!

5K runners registered by November 3rd are guaranteed a race shirt. Kid’s race includes cotton short-sleeved t-shirt is registered by November 3rd.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving please bring non perishable items, canned food or dry goods to the High School on race day. We will be collecting those items and donating them to the Westborough Food Bank. Thank you!

There will not be a bag drop at this race and no finisher’s medals.

Boston Road Runners Turkey Trot

10th Annual Rachel’s Run

18 November | 9:00 AM walkers, 9:45 AM runners | Saturday

Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, MA

All funds raised will be used to fund a scholarship fund that has been set up at the Academy of Notre Dame for seniors expecting to pursue a science and/or marine biology degree in college.

This is an event for everyone in the family on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three female and male finishers. Medals for age-group top finishers. No finisher’s medal will be awarded.

2023 registration is closed $35 for the 5K run and $30 for the 5K walk.

WOBBLE BEFORE YOU GOBBLE 5K

19 November | 9:30 AM Kid’s Dash, 10:00AM 5K

82 Summer Street, Malden, MA

All proceeds benefit  Bread of Life, a local nonprofit that provides free food to economically struggling and disadvantaged families, individuals, youth, and senior citizens in Boston’s metro-north region.

A collection bin will also be on site for donating food (unopened and unexpired) and other items, such as pasta sauce, cereal, canned vegetables, toothpaste, and socks.

2023 registration is closed $35 for the 5K through October 31st, Kid’s Fun Run is FREE!

Register for the 5K by November first and get a race shirt. All runner receive a pie!

A finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

Norwell Middle School PTO Turkey Trot

19 November | 9:00 AM | Sunday

Norwell High School, Norwell, MA

Scenic walk/run 5k through the streets of Norwell, this 5k starts and ends at Norwell High School.

All proceeds from the race go to Norwell Middle School PTO, which provides grants to teachers, enrichment programs and ancillary student services.

2023 registration is closed $25 for adults and $20 for students. First 150 to register will receive a race shirt.

Chase the Turkey fun run for children under the age of 5 registration is $5 without a t-shirt.

Thanksgiving Day Races

20th Wild Turkey Run 5 Miler

23 November | 8:00 AM

Peabody Essex Museum Atrium, Salem, MA

The first 1600 entries will receive long sleeve shirts. They give out awards in 5-year age groups!

Proceeds benefit youth programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.

Registration is $30

14th Annual Milford Scarlet Hawks Turkey Day 5K and Kid’s Fun Run

Milford High School

All proceeds from the Scarlet Hawks Turkey Day 5K and Kids Fun Run will benefit Milford High School student-athletes.
Register as a team of 4 and show your competitive spirit! At the end of the race, we will add up your cumulative times.
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team.

Registration is $35 for adults and $30 for 18 and under. T-shirts guaranteed for those registered by October 30th. Kid’s Fun Run for ages 12 and under is $15.

Awards to the top male and female finishers as well as age-group winners.

A finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

36th Annual Feaster Five Road Races

23 November | 7:45 AM Kid’s K, 8:30 AM 5K/5 Miler

Andover, MA

Proceeds from the Feaster Five benefit Bellesini Academy, The Merrimack Valley Y, the MVS High School Scholarship Fund, Groundwork Lawrence, and the Sidney Mae Olson Rainbow Fund.

Registration is $45 for the 5K or 5 miler, 12 and under pay $35 for the 5K and Kid’s K Fun Run is $10.

Table Talk pies for everyone! A finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

Franklin Park Turkey Trot

Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse, Boston

Runners and walkers come primarily from the neighborhoods that border the park, including Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Mattapan, but all are welcome, including out-of-town family members!

The Franklin Park Turkey Trot is the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the City of Boston. We look forward to welcoming the many individuals and families who have let us know this is their Thanksgiving tradition.

Registration is $35 for adults, $18 for 17 and younger. a finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

Marathon Sports Hingham High School Turkey Trot 5K

Kick off your holiday weekend the right way with the biggest Thanksgiving Day race on the South Shore.

Race proceeds go to the Hingham High School XC/Track Boosters, and awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group.

Registration is and is $35 and $25 for 18 and under.

Tiger Turkey Chase 5 Miler

The Tiger Turkey Chase is the official fundraiser of the Oliver Ames Cross Country Program, and is brought to you by the Bank of Easton.

2023 registration is closed $30 for the 5 mile run or 2.4 mile walk.

Race day registration is $35 and does not include a t-shirt.

Bedford Turkey Trot 5K and 2 mile walk

John Glenn Middle School, Bedford, MA

This is a friendly fun-run / walk as a fund-raiser for Bedford Food Pantry. The event provides a significant portion of the food pantry annual budget, and is a great way to build up an appetite for Thanksgiving dinner.

The race does not use timing chips and is limited to 250 runners and walkers.

Registration is $30 and limited to 250 runners who must register on-line by November 22nd.

This is a USATF sanctioned race, with sanction #146940.

Ayer Fire Department Thanksgiving 5K

23 November | 8:00 AM

Ayer, MA

Sun, rain, or snow we run!

The course is mostly flat, with several short hills. The race takes runners down Main Street and through residential neighborhoods.

For your safety, Marshals will be posted throughout the course, and a water station will be provided on the race course.

On-line registration is closed Race day registration is $35.

North Reading 5K Turkey Trot

23 November | 8AM

15 Central Street, North Reading, MA.

All proceeds to benefit North Reading High School sports programs. Race registration is capped at 1,500 runners.

Registration has sold out! Students $20 5K run or 1.75 mile walk, Adults $30, Family up to 4, $70 until Nov. 5th.

Overall winners of the female and male divisions awarded the Frederick A. Keyes Memorial Award at the end of the race!

Top 2 female/male in all age categories along with the top 2 families (families of 4 runners) win prizes! Awards will be mailed.

A finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

Attleboro YMCA Gobble Wobble 5K

Attleboro Norton YMCA, Attleboro, MA

Registration is $35 after November 1st, Race day registration is available. T-shirts and refreshments for all, awards three deep in each age category! Child Watch available at the YMCA.

Make a $50 donation when registering for the event and you will receive a festive YMCA Gobble Wobble Hat to wear on race day.

Great Gobbler Thanksgiving Day 5K

Nashua High School South, Nashua, NH.

Proceeds benefit Nashua HS North and South Cross-country Teams. 

Canned good donations will also be accepted for the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter.

Registration is 18+ $30, 17 and younger $25, FREE Little Gobbler Fun Run (ages 2-10). Registration closes on November 22nd.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female 5K competitors, a finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

44th Annual Greater Gardner Turkey Trot 5 Miler

Gardner City Hall, Gardner, MA.

This year marks the 44th running of the Greater Gardner Turkey Trot! This 5 Mile point to point race on Thanksgiving Morning takes you along the beautiful Rt. 68 from Gardner to Baldwinville. This race is a great tradition for many runners, walkers and their families!

Registration is $35. Table Talk pies while supplies last, shirts available for a small fee.

Newburyport Maudslay Turkey Trot 5K

This 31st annual cross-country 5K raises funds for Pettengill House, Our Neighbor’s Table & Opportunity Workshop.

Please bring a few cans of food for Our Neighbor’s Table Food Pantry.

Registration is $30 for adults and $25 for 18 and under.

Southborough Gobble Wobble 5K Run and 2 Mile walk

Trottier School, Southborough, MA

Brought to you by the Southborough Recreation Department and supporting local non-profits helping your friends and neighbors.

Registration is $35 for adults, $25 for18 and under – walk or run. Day of registration is $40 for the 5K run.

Medals will be given out for the following categories:

1st Overall Male and Female

Top Male and Female in each of the age categories: 10 and younger, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older. A finisher’s medal for all runners will not be awarded.

This year they have partnered with GotSneakers.com to recycle used sneakers. Please bring any old sneakers to the Gobble Wobble pick up and deposit them in the box in the gym. This will not only help the Friends of Southborough Recreation, but help the environment.

Concord Turkey Trot

This family friendly event is a great way to start Thanksgiving Day! Race-day Registration opens at 7:30 AM and is $35 cash or check.

Registration is $40 and $25 for kids 12 and under.

Register by November 10th to get a race shirt – so don’t wait!

Please bring a food item to donate to the Open Table Food Pantry. They are in need of hearty soups and boxes of cereal in particular.

The Boston Volvo Thanksgiving Day 5K

Come be a part of this awesome event and help change the world for people with MS.

The event includes a t-shirt for the first 700 runners to register, prizes for the top run finishes, fundraising prizes, and is a chip-timed, USATF-certified course.

All runners receive a finisher’s medal!

I ran this race a few years ago and it is well organized. You will enjoy running through the neighborhoods of Allston and Brighton smelling pies and turkeys cooking as you go by homes full of families preparing their Thanksgiving Feasts!

Registration was $35 and $40 Race Day Registration.

Provincetown Pilgrim 5K Trot

What better place to run a Pilgrim Trot then where the pilgrims landed, Provincetown!
All proceeds will be donated to HOW (Helping our Women). Should you wish, we will be collecting your donated canned protein and/or personal products which will be delivered to H.O.W after the race.

Running of the Pilgrims 5K

Proceeds benefit South Shore Community Action Council which provides a wide array of services to families in need throughout our local communities.

Proceeds from the Running of the Pilgrims 5K will be directed to their food pantry program as we approach the holidays so we can help those in need have holiday meals for their families.

This race needs volunteers.
