Tuesday Night Running
Melrose Tuesday night running
I finally got back to Melrose for a Tuesday night club run.
My last club run was January 20th and then I only ran 4 miles. We have had so many snow storms in the GBA that it has either been snowing or we have been still digging/plowing out of the last storm on Tuesday nights.
I don’t have a spring marathon so I’m avoiding harsh or dangerous conditions. If I can get in a few 4 to 6 mile runs each week, that’s all I really need.
Since it was a Tuesday night in the GBA, it was snowing. It’s a meteorological certainty these days. The air temp was 27ยฐ and the wind chill was 14ยฐ. With the air that close to the freezing point, the snow was wet. The snow fall was light and dusted the streets like confetti in the head lights of on-coming cars.
Not bad. Especially for this winter. I would much rather run in light snow and 27ยฐ than light rain in 35ยฐ. The rain always soaks through your clothes eventually. I don’t care what you are wearing. If you are out long enough, the water and cold will find its way to the core of your being.
Snow just bounces off without a chance to melt. entrench and seek out your skin.
I wore many layers tonight. On my feet I wore my trusty Brooks Adrenaline ASR 10 GTX shoes. I felt confident and sure-footed with every step on the ice, slush and snow slickened roads.
For our Tuesday Night run we managed 4.34 miles at a leisurely 8:40 pace. Nothing to write home about, but they were some good outside mileage and will beat a treadmill run any day.
With my 4.85 on the treadmill yesterday, my week is looking pretty good.
Run well my friends,
Andy
