Sunday Long Run
The Sunday Long Run
This week our Sunday Long Run was supposed to be 16.5 miles. But after getting over two feet of snow we had to change our route. Even with plowing and 24 hours to recover, most roads were still covered with packed snow and are generally a mess.
To avoid traffic on major roads we changed to a safer 14.2 mile long run and a 7.2 mile short run. Many roads still only allowed one car at a time and we had to keep our eyes and ears open constantly.
Thankfully we had very little wind today. WBZ said the temp was 5 degrees when I left my house shortly after 7AM. The National Weather Service reported on my phone that it was 19 degrees when we left for our run. It’s hard to tell who was right.
Even with the cold and snowy winter conditions we still had about 25 people show up for the run. I think most of them went for the long run. I cut my run short and only did 8 miles. I don’t have a Spring marathon scheduled and I froze my toes shoveling Saturday. Getting close to frost bite two days in a row is probably not a good idea.
Here are a few photos of my neighborhood and one of me after the Sunday Run.

You braved some serious conditions for a run – love it! You are a tougher person than I am. Stay warm ๐
It was a little chilly. But, since there wasn’t much wind it really wasn’t that bad. I did manage to get a col though.
Boo on the cold! I hope you feel better soon!!
That’s some seriously cold weather! It’s about 48 and sunny here today, and it felt like a dream for my 3 miler compared to the cold weather we’ve had the past few weeks. Can’t wait for warmer temperatures to make running fun again!
And now I have a cold!! I can’t wait for temps in the 40’s again. I’m not a big fan of winter.
Get better soon! Soup, soup and more soup! ๐
