Tonight was pretty much the opposite of Sunday.
Sunday was supposed to be a long run, but it just didn’t work out.
Tonight I felt tired and not very motivated, but the run got better with each mile.
Four miles into the run I said out loud to my running buddy that I felt better right then than I did when we started.
And here’s the lesson
Many runners have times when they just don’t want to lace up. But we all know that by the time the first mile is run we’ll feel likerunning five. The magic pill will have hit our system.
If you can get yourself out the door, half the battle is won. The rest is just running.
It’s like so many other things in life, showing up is half the battle.
You may not feel like getting out of bed in the morning or going into the office but once you get up and get going, it usually gets better.
Once you get dressed and into the office or get to the meeting you just have to do the work. And often, that is the easy part.
